5 Basic Steps to Create a Successful Website

Nowadays, almost everyone has or wishes to have a web page on the Internet and of course, a successful one. Whether you have a Personal or a Business website, your goal is to introduce it to your audience. Take the business website for instance: A successful business website is a site that makes huge profits by selling its products or services. But, without real visitors, you won´t make any sale. Your website would be a dead page. Thus, a successful website is the one that has a considerable amount of traffic. All of your efforts should be focused on getting visitors to your website and having them return or offer your website to the others. But here, I am not going to teach you how to increase your website traffic, since it is a very comprehensive topic. Rather, I will tell you 5 important basic steps to make a successful website. Following each step carefully will bring you wonderful results.

1. Finding a right niche in the market:

It is the first step which is too overwhelming. You have to provide your website in a specific niche, if you want to have a successful one. Suppose your passion is music and you intend to create a website about this topic. But, it is actually a very common topic which belongs to a very large market. Thus, there is a hard competition and the chances for success are minimal. On the other hand, you can create a web page based on a fact about, for example, various types of folkloric music in your country. Although, it has become very limited, but it is more specialized and of course more profitable. Besides, you might find the most related keywords and key phrases to your website. Today, it is not too difficult anymore, you can use a Keyword Search Tool to determine the most wanted and profitable keywords according to your niche.

2. Choosing a good domain name:

One of the most fundamental step is to select a unique domain name (URL). So spend a little more time and try to choose a good domain name which might be, for example, easy to read and easy to memorize. The more readable the URL is, the more simple to remember. Also, keep in mind when you are going to select some words in your domain name. It is better to choose a keyword-rich URL. That´s a positive factor for attracting the search engine spiders attention. Using hyphen (-) in the domain name is a controversial issue. Some people believe that it is better to have a hyphenated domain name, as it is easier to read and memorize. Besides, search engine spiders could easily find the keywords in the domain name. The others state that hyphenated domain name may be forgotten or mistaken for the non-hyphenated one. They explain that it is harder to describe a hyphenated domain name when said aloud, for example, in radio or a phone conversation. The best thing is to register both (hyphenated and non-hyphenated), if it is possible. Then you won´t lose the targeted traffic in the future.

3. Designing attractively:

You don´t need to be a pro to design a website. Everyone has a different taste and likes to design his/her site personally. That´s ok. But, remember to make it attractive. A very simple page without any specific layout might look too amateurish. But on the other hand, it has turned out that web pages full of graphics, frames, different colors, etc are not desirable any more. All of them slow down loading a web page which is unpleasant for visitors. Therefore, try to design a website that your audience feel comfortable being on your pages. Adding a nice logo, a simple navigation menu, some eye-catching images and suitable fonts are some positive parameters for designing your website.

4. Writing a powerful content:

Perhaps, that´s the most important part. Your audience will definitely find your site and like it if it has a powerful content. They are looking for some useful information, not you. They don´t even care about you, but your content. I highly recommend you to write a rich content for your website before doing anything else. That´s the heart of your web pages, so you need to spend more time to fulfill this important step. Anyway, put yourself on the shoes of your audience, think about it and prepare a powerful content which is naturally unique and useful. Also, don´t forget to check the whole content in many aspects such as literature, spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, sentence structure and so on. After a while, you will see a lot of people finding your site, enjoying it and starting to spread it optionally.

5. Making the website profitable:

Now, it is time to potentially make the website profitable. If you have a valuable content, a content which presells, you won´t have any problem with selling the products and services. If you don´t have your own items, you can both put advertisements on your pages and become an affiliate marketer promoting others products and services. But, in order to monetize your site maximally, you should know some helpful tips. Try to choose the most wanted items which are highly related to your topic and content. Besides, you might select the ones that has higher commissions. If done carefully, you will only need to sit back and watch the great results.

The above mentioned points are too vital if you want to run a successful website with minimum costs. Those steps bring you almost free traffic automatically, if done properly. In other words, they are the foundation which enables you to make a website that works. Then, for more profit and better results, you may need to increase your website traffic through advertising and marketing. As I said before, it is another issue and can be discussed in another article.

How To Make A Website That Is Successful

You should know how to make a website successful at every stage of the process. If you have not created a website before, this will be a challenge. Every website is different and will require something special to make it successful.

Not everyone can hire a website designer so many of us have to design and create our own website. Learning how to make a website can be very frustrating. There are hundreds of websites on the Internet today that will give you bits and pieces to make a website, however, there are some sites that will provide you quite a bit of information that will help you out. Find a website that will help you:

· Find and purchase a domain name

· How to set up a web hosting account

· How to create a free report with private label rights (PLR)

· Create an Opt-in page, a sales page and a Thank You page

· Set up an autoresponder

· Set up a payment account

· Edit pages and add images

· Add to autoresponder and payment forms to web pages

· Publish the final web pages to the Web

· Obtain legal forms for the final web pages

Wouldn't be great to find one website that would provide you tutorials on all of these steps? Finding these tutorials that would show you how to make a successful website step by step in one place is possible. You just have to know how to look.

Learning how to make a website from watching videos is so much easier than trying to create one by reading something that can't "point" or "circle" or physically show the "actual process" of how to do something. Many of us learn by watching and doing rather than just reading directions. Watching and doing is more interactive and therefore more productive for us and worth our time and efforts.

Being shown how to choose the perfect domain name is important and is an absolute must to know. Web hosting is also very important and there are some things you should know before signing up and forking money out on a company who have servers that seem to be down more than they are up. Making a report (that's free) with PLR may not be fully explained by many websites as the process is typically generalized and this is a step you need to know everything about.

If you haven't learned yet, the Opt-in page, the Sales page and the Thank You page are a must for a successful website. Each one of these pages holds a ton of wealth if created and used correctly. You'll need to use HTML code to create these pages; however, you won't need to learn these code if you know how to get around it by using a unique program that does the coding for you.

Using an autoresponder is critical to keep a website successful because you can stay in touch with your contacts. Of course, you can't make money if you don't have a place for your clients to pay you so you need to know how to add payment forms to your site too. And knowing how to publish your pages is a must otherwise how else is anyone going to see your website?

To be successful, you should also have legal forms on your website. These not only protect your client but you too. Learning how to make a website that is successful can be easy when you have the right tools and the right resources.

How to Make a Website Successful

When doing business on the Internet, there are many ways in which you can make a website successful. Although the look of your website is important, fancy websites don't make sales. There is much more to creating a quality website. To make a website successful, you must create a website that will be of interest to your target market and make them want to visit your website over and over again. In addition, your website should lead your visitors to take the action you desire, such as joining your mailing list, or making a purchase.

Selecting a Website's Niche

The first step toward how to make a website successful, will be to target your website for one specific niche. For example, if you are designing a website about wine, everything within your website should relate to wine.

Selecting a Website's Keyword Phrase

You must also select the most relevant keyword phrase for each web page. A keyword phrase is two or more words that best describe your web page. For example, if your web page is about 'making wine,' your best keyword phrase would be 'wine making.' You should use your keyword phrase a few times within your web page, as this will enable the search engines to determine what the website is about. This is a very important step to make a website successful.

Using HTML Heading Tags

When you begin writing your content, it is very important that you use the HTML H1 heading tag with your main title at the top of your web page. In addition, use th HTML H2 tags for your sub-titles. This is very important, as some search engines place relevance on the text displayed with heading tags. As the default text for the H1 heading tag is very large, you may want to use CSS style sheets to display the heading tags in the font style and size you prefer.

Using META Tags Within a Web page

Another step to help make a website successful is to include META tags between the HEAD tags of your web page. META tags help the search engines to know what keywords are relevant to the web page. They are also used to tell the search engines what the web page is about. Many search engines will display this description within the search results.

Backgrounds and Text

It is always best to display a web page with a white background and black text, as this will make the text easy to read. Distracting backgrounds will make the text hard to read. A good rule of thumb is to just use common sense and keep your website simple. This alone is a great way to help make a website successful.

Animated Graphics

If you're using animated graphics, it is important that you use them sparingly. Graphics that continually flash are VERY annoying and may prevent your visitors from returning to your website in the future.

Navigational Links

It is very important to include good navigational links on every page. They should be displayed at the top, bottom, left or right side of your web page. In addition, your visitors should be able to get to any web page within your website within four clicks.

Web page Layout

Always be consistent with your web page design. This is a very important step to help make a website successful. The layout for your website should be the same on each page. If you make it different, your visitors will become confused. In addition, it will make your website appear to be unprofessional. Your website design should include the same layout, logo, and navigation setup on each page.

Spelling and Grammar

Always make sure you proof read and spell check your web pages for errors. It is also very important that your webpage doesn't have any broken images or links.

Important Web pages

When you launch your website, it is very important that you include the following web pages:

About - The 'About' page is used to tell your visitors about you and/or your company.

Privacy - The 'Privacy' page is used to let your visitors know what you do with their personal information, such as their email address.

Terms and Conditions - The 'Terms and Conditions' page should be displayed on your website for your protection.

Site Map - A 'Site Map' is used to help the search engines index your website more easily.

You can learn more about all of these pages by doing a search through your favorite search engine. They are very important and will help make a website successful.

Website Interactivity

Another way to make a website successful is to make the website interactive. This can be done by including a targeted forum that compliments your website, a form in which they can subscribe to an ezine, a feedback form to enable them to give their opinion, or an informative blog in which visitors can comment.

Web Browsers and Screen Resolutions

When you begin designing your web page, it is HIGHLY recommended that you install the most popular web browsers on your computer. This will enable you to see how your website will display in different browsers. You will find that your website may look great in one browser and terrible in another. It would be wise to design your website to display properly in Firefox and then it should display properly in Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.

It is also important that you view your website through different screen resolutions. You can either open your webpage in your browser and then change your computer's screen resolution, or there are website's online that you can visit, such as Any Browser, to test your website.

If you follow these simple guidelines, you can begin to make a website successful in no time.

How to Make a Successful Website: Let's Start With Curb Appeal

How to make a successful website cannot be taught in one article. We can speed up the process, however, if we initially focus on building a foundation of success. This article is not about content. Right now we are going to concentrate on how to attract positive attention by designing for "curb appeal".

I like to think of websites as real estate in cyberspace. We wander around the World Wide Web seeking websites that provide answers, entertainment, social interaction and potential sources of income. Based on the search engines we use, and how we phrase our search requests, we are directed to content specific locations; or addresses of websites. At this point the search engine has done it's job. We are now wandering around a digitized neighborhood attempting to determine which property is going to provide the most value.

Ask any realtor, as many as 50% of home buyers make their decision to purchase within seconds of pulling up in front of a house, long before they step inside the front door. The sellers can anticipate as much as a 10% premium in sale price of their home if it has good curb appeal.

Guess what..... websites are also judged by their "curb appeal". Researchers led by Dr. Gitte Lindgaard at Carleton University in Ontario, Canada determined that we form first impressions of web pages in as little as 50 milliseconds (1/20th of a second). They concluded, "in the blink of an eye, web surfers make nearly instantaneous judgments of a web site's "visual appeal." Through the "halo effect" first impressions can color subsequent judgments of perceived credibility, usability, and ultimately influence our purchasing decisions. Creating a fast-loading, visually appealing site can help websites succeed".

What does this mean?... The attitude of visitors toward our website is determined within seconds. The perceived value and credibility of our content is assessed, to a great extent, before they've read one word.

So what do we do about this?... We are going to focus on the aesthetic components of our design in support of four factors.

****Credibility... Content and Function...Site Classification... Targeted Audience****

Right now, I'm going to briefly summarize these four factors and their role pertaining to curb appeal.

Credibility

Our websites, in many cases, are the only contact we have with our potential market. Aesthetic effects play an important role in establishing positive perception about ourselves and our organizations. The colors, fonts, styles and imagery we use all need to work together to visually represent who we are and to elicit confidence in the content we are sharing.

Content and Function

Our use of images, highlights, illustrations, and graphics(stationary or animated) must support the content and functional aspects of our sites. We need to avoid visual noise which distracts and misdirects our viewers' focus from the core value of our site which is the content. We want to use visual icons and highlights to create user-friendly navigation. Any interactive elements must flow smoothly and, once again, be used to support our content and site function.

Site Classification

We need to determine what we intend to provide with our website. A site that is primarily providing entertainment needs to include more experiential and interactive effects. On the other hand, a site providing information should focus less on effects and more on efficiency.

Targeted Audience

We need to adapt our style and effects to best reach our target audience. For example a site directed to a young audience needs to pay more attention to contemporary trends and interactive effects; whereas, a minimalistic approach would normally be more successful with an adult demographic.

We've just covered some basics on how to apply "curb appeal" to websites.Remember that first impressions are lasting impressions; and you have potentially less than a second to convince your targeted audience to give your site an unbiased viewing.
